I don’t know, my pup loves affection so hugs don’t really bother her but I always saw that kind of reaction like anyone else who been smothered too long for comfort. So I try to keep my affection as brief as possible and it works on my side.

I would assume it would also vary depending on the breed. Since there are dogs who gravitate more to humans than dogs. Not all breeds are the same in that way…
