While building tiny homes is becoming increasingly popular, restrictions are in play. Some countries have made it illegal to build them, while others have eased the rules for tiny homes. The countries with the most lax laws regarding the construction of tiny houses are Mexico and Canada. Areas ideally suited for tiny home builders. However, they do have some restrictions, such as building requirements, which have delayed tiny home construction.
For instance, in New Jersey, while tiny homes are legal in most cities and towns, the regulations vary. One town, Tuckerton, recently denied an application for a tiny home community for veterans. The town of Rockland only allows recreational vehicles to be stored on residential lots. Similarly, the city of Haverstraw, New Jersey, allows only a caretaker’s cottage on lots…
