It may seem like an unnecessary effort to try to clean up the mess left behind in landfills, but today’s technology and state-of-the-art machinery mean that concrete can be recycled much more cheaply than ever before. In fact, a lot of times, recycled concrete can be used for what it is really supposed to be used for: driving ways, patios, and walkways, among other places.

One big reason why recycling waste concrete is such a good idea is that the process of recycling waste concrete doesn’t involve pouring harsh chemicals into the ground to deteriorate bacteria or heavy chemicals to harden the soil. Instead, what is done is that leftover concrete is broken down into manageable pieces, which can then be used again. The process of breaking down concrete allows it to naturally absorb nutrients from the earth as it breaks down, meaning the more concrete is recycled, the more nutrients are introduced back into the soil.

This means healthier soil in the long run. Plus recycling waste concrete allows cities to add more natural resources to their waste streams, reducing the amount of natural resources needed to fill up our landfills.
